Three Ireland Choose NordMende for High Bright Displays

We are pleased to announce that Three Ireland have chosen NordMende High Bright Screens for a number of their stores in Dublin and Galway.

The High Brightness Window Displays go beyond the technology of a conventional screen as they are 3 times brighter than a standard home TV (1500cd/m2) which allows more readability in direct sunlight but without getting over-heated as the display has an internal air-conditioning system keeping the components at the optimum working temperature. The High Bright Display ensures a long and reliable life for your content which can be in constant use 24/7, and easy content management system with NordMende's Android Based Content Management System. The new NordMende digital displays were specified and installed by the leading provider of total ICT solutions and supporting services across Ireland, the UK and Germany, MJ Flood Technology.

Brightness is paramount when using outward facing screens, these displays use commercial grade Ultra High Brightness panels (1500 cd/m2); more than 3 times brighter than a standard home TV to allow easy readability in direct sunlight.

Advanced Temperature Control

The internal air-conditioning system allows the screens to be in constant use in an outward facing window. Internal fans keep their panels and other internal components at the optimum working temperature; ensuring a long and reliable life for your screens.

Commercial Grade Panel and Components

NordMende Release New Double Sided Display

Double Sided Totem Display

KAL PRO are excited to bring you NordMende's newest solution.

The totem range now includes a double sided model, available in a 50" screen size. This display format opens up new possibilities for businesses looking to take maximum advantage of their floor space to communicate to customers.

Android Powered

Much like the rest of the NordMende digital signage range, this display is powered by a built in android media player. Each display has it's own independant media player. This allows for different content on each facade of the screen. Having a built in android player simplifies the installation process, and minimizes the need for cables. The Android player provides fast processing speed allowing for improved communication with a content management system.

Stylish and Intelligent Design

This totem is designed to look good. The rounded corners, buttonless tempered glass facade, super slim profile and solid black surround all add to the tablet-like aesthetics.

A locker is located at the side of the display. This allows an integrator to use their own media player or PC to publish content. There's also ports located at the side to facilitate USB control, LAN connection and a channel to run a power cable.

Commercial Grade, Energy Efficient

The internal climate control system keeps the totem cool, and allows for 24/7 operation within a temperature range of between 0 °C to 50 °C.

The LED backlights built into these displays ensure improved brightness and contrast as well as drastically improving their lifespan and reducing their power consumption by around 30%. This form of light technology is mercury free; safeguarding this screen’s eco friendliness.

NordMende Provide Digital System at Web Summit

NordMende Provide Digital System at Web Summit

NordMende is delighted to be the provider of Digital Wayfinding at the 2015 Web Summit at the RDS Dublin.

Pixel Soup, a reseller of NordMende Digital Signage created a grid of 40 ceiling mounted digital signs throughout the Simmonscourt Pavillion and the RDS Main Hall. Powered by Android, each screen has a specific task of directing patrons to any given stage. A “Now / Next” RSS feed was implemented to show what speaker is at what stage and when. The responsive nature of the signage network allows Pixel Soup to react to unexpected changes in the event line up; If a speaker doesn’t turn up, or the schedule needs to change, the signs can be updated in seconds to provide relevant information. The scheduling feature allows the Pixel Soup team to plan the day well in advance, and use the content management system to react to unexpected developments in a timely manner. At the end of each day of the event, all the screens will change to a green “EXIT” content design, pointing everyone toward their nearest exit. The same method can be deployed in case of emergency.

Not only will NordMende be powering the wayfinding at this year’s Web Summit event but also, Collision New Orleans, Rise Hong Kong and Surge Bengalaru in 2016.

Will My Digital Signage Campaign Be Successful?

Will My Digital Signage Campaign Be Successful?

A daunting open ended question for anyone budgeting for a rollout of digital signage

The success of any digital signage campaign undoubtedly comes from the planning that goes into the project before equipment is purchased. Choice of equipment, software and content should be among the last decisions one should make when planning a signage campaign.

To judge success, you must first decide what success actually is. Are you trying to boost sales? This is obviously measured comparing sales vs a similar period in the past.Maybe you’re looking to boost brand awareness, which is a more complicated metric. In this case a digital signage campaign can only be one part of a larger puzzle, and therefore it’s difficult to measure the success of that specific campaign. Are you trying to change the behaviour of people in your facility, helping people find their way with wayfinding solutions. Customer surveys, or in-person surveys could measure the success of this. Maybe you want to amplify a consumer’s experience in your retail store. Whatever the end goal, make sure you have one and can measure it. Set a target and a KPI at the same time. A common target is “to engage more people”. A good KPI in this case is “dwell time”, which can be measured by smart signage solutions, including NordMende signage. Maybe your goal is to know more about customers. A good KPI is the number of customers for whom you get data, or the amount of data collected by a signage platform.

Once you know what you want to achieve, you then need to start thinking about content. This is what you’re offering the customer. Content is what evokes the emotional reaction in the consumer. It can connect the brand with the viewer. With your targets set, you should have a clear picture of the type of content that you need to achieve those goals. Think about the customer you’re speaking to. Are they tech savvy? Would they value an interactive experience? Are they millenials? If so, some form of mobile integration may work well.

When the targets are established and the content plan is in place, it's time to start thinking about hardware and software. When you’re this far, you need to talk to the experts.

Digital Signage Trends - Transparent Digital Signage

Digital Signage Trends - Transparent Digital Signage

How do you stand out in a space saturated with digital signage displays all trying to stand out? We addressed this recently in our blog post about 3D signage, however 3 dimensions, isn’t the only way to stand out. Planar systems Inc. announced it will feature a new transparent OLED technology in February at ISE 2015. The KAL Pro team were fortunate enough to witness the unveiling of this tech.

How is an LED screen supposed to be transparent? The 55” prototype by Planar utilizes breakthrough Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) technology to improve the transparency of see-through displays, creating new opportunities for experience design while overcoming a major hurdle to transparent display adoption.

Transparent signage allows users to view what is shown on a glass video screen while still being able to see through it. It opens doors for marketers to be creative in how they best display their product, for example, to overlay digital images onto real objects that sit behind glass. Planar Systems Inc. intend to launch this product in early 2016.

Digital Signage Trends - 3 Dimensional Digital Signage

The main focus of static digital signage is to capture the viewer's attention, and deliver an important message to them, which may or may not be relevant. This objective can fall short if the means of displaying the content fails to hold the attention of the viewer. HD monitors we’re all familiar with are, of course very effective in capturing the viewer’s attention and communicating a message; However in markets outside of Ireland where public places are saturated in digital signage, standing out isn’t as easy. Glasses free 3D signage (or Autostereoscopic 3D) is a unique, innovative way for your message to stand out. In a market such as Ireland, where viewers are exposed to less digital signage, the impact could only hit home even harder. Dwell time for standard 2D digital signage is between 0.3 and 1 seconds. 3 dimensional signage can increase this dwell time up to 10 seconds. This allows for much longer communication between the brand and the viewer.
